The Longines Avigation has long been my favourite sub 3k offering for a chronograph from a respectable heritage brand.
The value you get with the L688 caliber beating away at 28,800 VPH, a column wheel Chronograph, and a horologically significant dial layout with the 3 minute hashes on the 30 minute counter, makes this the only Chronograph you might need.
At 41mm, this watch wears impeccably on wrists larger than 6.7” and is in near mint condition, with some minor signs of wear on the strap and a tiny fleabite I noted on the upper left lug.
On the timegrapher, it’s running at +2s a day and an amplitude over 300.
At retail, the watch is $3500 + tax.
This one was purchased off Jomashop by the previous owner and comes with the original order email confirmation from May 2022.
I’m also including within this package the ubiquitous and quintessential staple of most collections, the SPB143.
Very little needs to be said about the watch that hasn’t been said before, it’s versatile at 40mm, very easy to dress up or dress down, a true strap monster and with a grey sunburst dial has enough character to keep you engaged, never bored.
On the timegrapher, this one beats at a reliable +2s a day, 290 amplitude and is covered by the original warranty till 2025.
