Decided to part with this one after all, a recent pickup. Every collection that includes vintage Canadian market watches should include a Birks Eternamatic Challenger.
This is one of the best. Flawless original dial with applied gold arrow markers. The little streaks in the picture (near four o'clock) are on the crystal.
Thick gold-capped 35/36 mm case. No wear through anywhere. No wear through on the back or ends of the lugs (didn't photograph well, but there's none). Very crisp personal engraving from 1956 (McColl-Frontenac Oil Company) tells me this watch has not been worn very much. Great condition, as good as I've seen.
Crown is a later generic replacement.
Inside is a cal 1414 Eterna automatic movement. I was told it was "serviced" and it is keeping near-perfect time.
So...Birks plus Eterna plus McColl-Frontenac. Can't beat all that for Canadian as heck.
Offering this at a fair and reasonable $365, including tracked ExpressPost shipping in Canada. F2F in Ottawa welcomed. Tons of positive references.
