With the original release of the Gimlet, then a Manhattan, the subsequent release of the hair of the dog “Mimosa” seemed only natural.
A design I’ve lusted after since the Gimlet, this example was purchased by yours truly during its short ordering window and is now discontinued.
I currently own and wear one of these and wrist shots will be from my own example, while other pictures stem from the available and unworn model. Purchased with the collector in mind who might have missed out given the short window of availability, I’m not looking to profit of this, just recover the spend
With a unique case and dial, the watch is as elegant, as it is painstakingly designed.
The watch measures 38mm x 43.5mm x 12mm with a 20mm lug width. Slightly smaller than I’m used to on my 7.3” wrist, it wears similar to a Hamilton Khaki.
As expected from this collab, the brass dial is multi layered with 7 layers of luminescence, each requiring drying before the next application, and a 1mm thick sapphire crystal with liquid like texture achieved through a 5-axis CNC machining, followed by meticulous semi-polishing to create the desired finish. The process yields only 5-6 dials a day with a 50-60% success rate. Overall incredibly time consuming and a rather painful process, but well worth the final result.
Throughout the day the wearer will note the change in dial texture related to both light source and light play.
I’ve long believed that watch collecting should be fun and adventurous and this watch is a striking balance of both.
After tax, duties and exchange rate, the cost is just shy of $2445.
I’m setting this at $2400 shipped from the GTA, far cheaper than comparables extraneous to Canada
