Eaton's "Solar" Automatic Date (1960s)

Here's another neat all-Canadian Swiss-made collectible.

What we have here is a Solar brand wristwatch from the 1960s, in fabulous condition. Solar was a house brand of the T. Eaton Company.

Silvered dial with deco gold markers on the even-numbered hours; arrow markers for the rest. Patina is barely visible with my loupe; the lume has faded to a nice cream colour. Date window at six o'clock. The dates are all in red, and as you see from the pictures, they sit slightly left of centre.

Inside is a very good quality 30 jewel AS 1700/01 gilded movement. Running strong and keeping time. This movement dates the watch to circa 1960s. No service history, but I bought this a while back from a Montreal watchmaker.

The case is almost pristine. There are a few tiny swirlies, but this watch looks pretty much new, barely worn. Please note that the case is just over 33 mm in diameter (without crown).

Comes with a new old stock vintage strap (pictured).

I'm asking $155 net to me, so please add $20 for shipping if it's leaving Ottawa. F2F always welcome and the coffee is always on. Otherwise, payment by EFT is fine. Lots of positive references as a buyer and seller.

Thanks for looking and thanks CWC for the space.
