For sale, an “Archimede Flieger 39” still under manufacturer's warranty. This is really a one-owner watch as I purchased it only a few weeks prior to this listing, but while awaiting its arrival I decided to go a completely different direction…that’s how fickle I am. Thus, I have not actually worn this watch other than to try it on to get a good feel for it. Having done so, I can attest to it being rock-solid and super comfortable on the wrist, consistent with the reviews I’ve seen.
This is a classic pilot’s watch in a desirable 39mm case size with signed, highly readable minimalist dial with date aperture and upgraded blued hands. The signed crown winds and sets buttery-smooth. A sapphire crystal, exhibition case back, and workhorse ETA 25-jewel automatic movement round out this impressive timepiece.
It’s original black leather pilot strap has the perfect thickness, and not only looks great but is buttery-soft, feeling very much like rubber so it molds around the wrist and is unusually comfortable. The strap and the signed Archimede tang buckle are both in beautiful condition. Just a couple small rub marks on one of the rivets.
The Ickler-made case is in excellent condition. No scratches to speak of except for one on the case between 11 and 12 (captured in one of the pics below...looks worse in the highly-magnified pic than in-person). The sapphire crystal with AR on the underside is flawless. Don’t let a minor surface wear-related blemish deter you…this watch looks pretty much new on the wrist, and you’ll save hundreds, including the shipping, taxes and import duties, by not ordering this same watch from the manufacturer in Germany. Moreover, quality-wise, I compare this Archimede to other ETA-based pilots that I’ve owned costing more than triple and then some, including Sinn and IWC, and you’d be hard-pressed to see much of a difference in terms of fit, finish, feel and operation.
Archimede box and warranty card dated April 13, 2018 are included. This watch sells at Archimede's online store for 621.85 Euros (non-VAT price for export), plus the extra cost for the heat-blued hands of 84.03 Euros (non-VAT price for export), totaling 705.88 Euros or $1,036.58 Cdn plus shipping, import duties and taxes, meaning approximately $1,285 Cdn landed. Almost a year of the manufacturer’s international warranty remains on this watch, not that you'll likely need it. Overall, here's a pilot watch that has all the "right stuff" (great 39mm size, solid build quality, ETA Swiss movement, aviation dial, comfortable-to-boot) in new-like condition save for the few small blemishes described. Pictures are of the actual watch.
Asking $1,050 OR BEST OFFER shipped to your door. Please keep your offers reasonable. This is not a fire sale, and you'll be getting a truly impressive timepiece for the money. Positively no trades on this one, therefore trade or trade + cash offers will not be responded to.
