Up for your consideration is a rarely offered in this forum, vintage 1978 Rolex Submariner reference 1680. Serial starting with 5,6XX,XXX.
Purchased by the previous owner from HQ Milton, a very reputable vintage Rolex seller in the U.S. The full listing of the watch can be found here.

Not much has changed since that listing, except that the previous owner replaced the bracelet with a period correct "VC" stamped clasp and 93150 bracelet with 580 end links that has some wear to it, but has minimal stretch. 12 links in total.
The case has previously been polished, but has light wear from use.
Most of the value that goes into a vintage watch is with the dial, and this dial does not disappoint. It comes in matte black and has matching creamy eggshell markers and hands.
The crystal is an acrylic top-hat crystal that enhances the size of the date wheel, as well as reflecting the light onto the dial in such a way that a sapphire crystal cannot replicate.
HQ Milton did not mention this in their ad, but it is clear from the pictures that the hour hand must have had some of the tritium lume flake off, and a watchmaker applied a little luminova to cover the flaking. I feel it is not very noticeable at all when staring at the watch, but the applied luminova will show under zoom or Jeweller loupe.
The crown is in excellent condition and turns and winds as it should.
The bezel turns bidirectionally as it should with just a little effort.
The watch comes with the correct open 6 and 9 silver date disk.
Service history is unknown, but still keeps excellent time within COSC specs.
Comes with watch only. No box or papers.
Offered to you at a very reasonable $10,780 for a f2f transaction in the GTA. I also offer overnight shipping with FedEx, fully insured through Parcel Pro.
