An extremely rare vintage Hamilton Tuxedo II from the early 1960s.
The Tuxedo II was the most expensive model produced by Hamilton in the early 1960s, retailing for $450-475 when most solid gold models were sold for $150. For reference, a solid 18k gold Omega Constellation cost approximately $450-500 in the early 1960s. The Tuxedo II is a rare model that seldom comes up for sale.
Solid 14k white gold case was manufactured by Hamilton Watch Co. in Lancaster PA and has all the correct hallmarks. The back is not engraved which is quite uncommon for solid gold Hamilton watches that were typically given out as service awards.
Approximate weight of case without movement is 15 grams.
The watch features very fancy, outward pointing lugs.
Inside is a 22 jewel manually wound grade 770 movement, widely regarded as the best movement produced by Hamilton. The watch has not been serviced in my possession but keeps good time.
The bezel features 44 real diamonds.
The original, unrefinished dial is very well preserved and features a subsecond dial and crosshairs.
Original Hamilton signed crown.
Comes with the pictured leather strap or stainless steel bracelet.
Price: $900 plus shipping. Price is firm.
Watch and I are in Vancouver.
References gladly provided upon request.
