G-Shock Collector Starter Kit

About a year or so ago, I went all the way down the proverbial G-shock rabbit hole. Now that I’ve emerged from the other side, I am ready to sell some of the models I acquired along the way.

I learned a lot about the history of G-Shock over this time and believe there are a few essential pieces that someone first getting into G-shocks might want to have in their collection.

For this sales listing, I’ve put together an assortment of what I would consider to be some of the best, iconic and/or collectible modern G-Shocks and am selling them together as a single lot.

Here is the list of what is included in the sale:

GW-M5610U-1JF with updated module

Many consider the 5600E-1 model the ultimate G square, but step up a few dollars to this 5610 model and you get something that, IMO, looks a bit nicer and adds multi-band 6 and Tough Solar.

This is the newest iteration, with the updated 3495 module released in 2021, which added a number of features that collectors had been asking for.
I’ll not list all the updates here, but am happy to provide you with links via PM that outline the changes.

GW-5035a-1 35th Anniversary Square:

The 5000 line of G-Shocks represent a decided step-up from the standard, basic G square.

The case resin used for 5000 series of squares is made of a higher quality material than the majority of the basic, 5600 series models. The outer case is softer and feels much more premium.

The 5000 series squares come with a stainless steel inner case, including screw down caseback, which gives the watch a solid, more premium feeling.

The 5000 series case is also a slightly different shape and size than the 5600 series… it wears a touch larger, making it perfect for small wrists, but also a little better-sized if you have a 7.5” wrist like me.

Besides being a 35th anniversary piece, this specific reference is particularly sought after because it uses an outer-case material is unique to the already-premium 5000 series of cases.

Made specifically for 35th anniversary models, this references outer case seems to reflect less light, making the case appear to be a deep, pure black indoors.

Combined with the negative display, what you end up with is the ultimate blackout square, with a single detail of red on the dial to identify it as something a little more special.

This reference features Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6.

GW-S5600U-1JF Carbon Fibre:

This 5600-series model is said to be lightest square ever made.

The band is made of carbon fibre and the caseback is made from titanium, contributing to the overall lightness.

As one of the higher-end models in the 5600 series, this model comes with multi-band 6 and Tough Solar. It also has the updated 2021 module 3495.

DW-6900-1VCT:

Outside of the square, the 6900 series is the next most iconic case shape in the G-shock line.

The case shape strikes a great balance between the smaller, square models and some of the bulkier, tank-sized references in the g-shock line.

It has a tonne of wrist presence, but the design is balanced just right so that even those with a small wrist can easily pull this one off.

This one is as basic as it gets… battery-operated, great dial illumination and tough as nails.

Hodinkee John Mayer DW-6900-JM21

A limited edition sold by Hodinkee and designed in collaboration with John Mayer.

A great 6900 series model that is collectible, but also usual in terms of the case and dial colours. The colours used are meant to evoke the colours of a classic Casio keyboard from the 80’s.

This one comes with a pretty fancy box (for a G-shock).

DWE-5600cc-3jr - this was Casio’s first square with easily swappable bezels, made possible by the development of Casio’s new Carbon Core Guard technology.

Because it is the first of its kind, I think this could be a future collectible that can be had today for a very fair price.

The reference comes with two swappable bezels and three quick-release straps - one resin, one canvas-like, and one using a glow-in-the dark, soft material.

I am selling these watches as a set and not individually. If you already own one of the six references, I would be willing to discuss removing one piece from the set and reducing the set’s price, but the idea here is to sell everything as a package.

All watches are in great, worn condition and I am happy to provide any additional picture or details upon request.

Original boxes are included with each watch. All are in good condition with the exception of the g-5035a box which has some damage (see pic below). I have a spare 35th anniversary outer box from another model that I can included in the sale at no additional charge.
Local deals are extremely welcome in and around the GTA or KW-Guelph-Cambridge.

Insured shipping via my Flagship label to be covered by the buyer.

My price for the set is $1,200 OBRO.

Two of the six watches have now sold separately, so the price for the set is reduced to $850 and includes the following four killer pieces:
