First a little history. As the IWC archive photos reveal, this watch was first sold to “J. Einhorn” on August 29, 1949. On January 8, 2004, the previous owner from whom I purchased this watch (in 2005) sent it directly to IWC in Switzerland to service the movement. The owner also requested IWC archives papers, attesting to the details of this watch. That archival record was produced by IWC on February 2, 2004 (see photo) in a beautifully bound folder (see photos). The signatures on the archival record are original.

IWC then returned everything to the previous owner in an envelope (see photo), post-marked “Schaffhausen” on “05.02.04”. (Envelope is included with this purchase as well as all other documents shown in the photos).
In 2005, I purchased this watch. Amazingly, 16 years after being serviced, the watch is running and keeping very good time.

In the first few years following my purchase, I wore the watch from time to time when I used to wear suits, or when I was going to a special function. These days I rarely wear suits and the watch has been languishing in my watch box until about two weeks ago when I pulled it out, wound it and paid close attention to its time keeping. While I do not own a timing machine, the watch is keeping very good time (within a few seconds/day).

It's now time for this watch to move into the collection of someone who deeply values history and elegance in horology. This is a truly special watch.
This watch can be yours for $2,990. Insured shipping will be an extra $100 (which is less than actual cost to me). Paypal fees add 3%. FTF possible in central Toronto.
I have researched this thoroughly and the price is more than competitive. Check out Chrono24 and you will see much higher prices – without documents
You will receive everything shown in the photos.
I am not looking for any trades.

Some details as follows:
Movement: Caliber 89 manual wind
Watch case: 18K yellow gold
Other watch case and movement details: as shown in the archival records
Dimensions: Width 36mm x 8mm thick (very slim, very elegant)
Watch strap after-market: ok condition but this watch deserves something more special
Watch case/lugs: There is very little scratching considering that this watch is 71 years old
Crystal: slightly domed (probably acrylic/plexiglass)
The dial is in lovely shape, revealing nicely patterned patina appropriate for its age
Hour markers are Arabic for the even numbers and swords for the odd numbers

As much as possible I have tried in my photos to show the condition of this watch. Any marks revealed the close-ups/macros are much less noticeable to the naked eye.

Please feel free to PM me for any further pictures or questions.
