100% vintage vibes - 100% modern movement/materials!
This watch is rare to find as it was only produced for a few years by Longines. The model was originally released in 2014 - the 60th anniversary of the original Conquest - and as such it stays true to the original with its 35mm case. There's something special about strapping this watch on; for me I immediately think of my grandfather getting dressed for work and imagine he wore a watch similarly proportioned.
Here is an excellent write up from Hodinkee on this watch: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/hands-on-with-longines-conquest-heritage
This particular watch is powered by an ETA 2824, customized and falls between Top and Elabore grade - it features the better incabloc shock system. It is an absolute beast when it comes to timekeeping; it runs at less than -1 sec/day on the wrist at the moment.
I'm the original owner of this watch and I bought it at a Longines AD while on vacation in Florence, Italy in 2015. I'm glad I bought it when I did because I have yet to see the watch in any Canadian ADs. For a brief period, I believe Longines produced a 40mm version of this watch. I don’t know how long they produced this particular reference but had it had to be only a couple years.
This watch is in excellent condition considering that it was my daily watch for almost 2 years before I built up my collection again. Some minor swirls on the case, no flea bites. Just gave a poly watch treatment to the crystal. It looks great on a whole variety of straps, from black, brown, to even perlon straps. The watch is currently on a brand new DeBeer leather strap - I've moved over the Longines buckle. Longines has signed the watch 4 times (dial, caseback, crown, and buckle). The applied winged hourglass logo on the dial is exceptional. Did you know that the winged hourglass Longines logo is one of the oldest trademarked logos in the world? The case back is absolutely stunning ...
You get full inner and outer boxes with this one, two straps (original Longines leather strap hardly worn), booklets, warranty/authenticity card.
Before sending me any offers, I encourage you to go look at Chrono24.ca. The prices range from $1200 CAD to $2900 CAD, before shipping costs. I adore this watch and don't mind it staying in my collection and bringing back memories of my trip to Italy. As it goes with this hobby, always interested in what I can get next.
May entertain some interesting trades laterally.
PRICE - $1350 shipped
