One of the most unique, unusual, and for the most part, unknown Speedmasters Omega has ever manufactured.
This reference was only made for (approximately) short 4 years and according to Omega scholars only about 5K pieces, of all dials, bracelet and strap combos were ever built.
The blue dial model is the rarest of them all as it was designed exclusively, for, and only sold in Italy. Only at the very end of manufacturing cycle Omega has sent a few of them to their dealers around the world. It is believed that only about 700 of the blue dials have existed.
This watch features a state of the art Split Seconds (Rattrapante) Chronometer movement that is COSC certified. The cost of manufacturing and regulating these movements to COSC was so high that after 4 years Omega had to throw in the towel. The watch retail price was so prohibitive that people were not buying.

I have purchased this piece from an original owner who bought it in 2004 from Calgary Omega AD.
I was told by the owner the watch was untouched, never polished or opened.(Although I believe that to be true I could not guarantee that).
Since in my possession the watch remained untouched, all factory bevels are in place and clearly visible, there are no signs of even the bracelet being ever removed and the serial number on the lug is as clear and sharp as on the day of original sale.
For a few months of this year this was my every day watch and I have absolutely no issues with it.
Please note: this is not a new watch, it has been worn in rotation, there are scratches here and there but there is no damage or serious dings or bites or blemishes.
Watch comes as full package, as it was sold 14 years ago:
- Original warranty card dated Apr 24 2004
- Original Chronometer Certificate Card
- Original Pictograms Card
- Original Caseback Sticker
- Omega Cards Holder
- Two separate bracelet links
- Operating instruction book
- External white box
- Omega red watch box with original cushion

$4.880 CAD.

There were a few questions about rarity of this watch.

In 30 years of collecting fine Swiss watches I have never seen this reference with blue dial.
I have seen a couple of black dials, a few of silverish dials but never a blue one, except of this particular watch.

I would be very surprised if there were more than, literally, a few pieces of blue dials in Canada, perhaps not even that much.
As per my research the blue dial was only sold in Italy. A small number of watches was send to some other countries at the very end of production cycle.

PS. I would love to hear from someone who owns a blue dial Omega 3540.80.00
Cheers,
Tom.

Guys, I do not think this reference, with blue dial, was ever featured on CWC!
It may take another 15 years to see one like that again!
Act on it when it is available.

Looking for interesting trades as well.
Rolex, Tudor, some vintage Speedmaster.

Tudor would be my favourite trade.
Looking for Black Bay, Pelagos, GMT, BB Chrono or BB 38.
Also could trade with 79090, 79190 or something like that.
Some relatively inexpensive Rolex would be good too.
Of course cash is +\- depending on a trade deal.
Cheers,
Tom.

Gentlemen, I am trying to keep this watch in Canada as I sincerely believe it belongs here, being originally sold by a Canadian Authorized Dealer and being so rare, possibly unique to this great country.

Yes, it is not a typical Moonwatch, but there is 5 million moonwatches around and it is 10 times the watch.

If you are on the fence on this one, and have a reasonable offer in mind let me know, I may just let it go.
Cheers,
Tom.
