This is killing me to post, but it’s time for me to move onwards.

Up for sale is my 218238. Purchased by a family member in Germany in 2009 before they immigrated to Canada.

Wearing a Rolex Day Date is intentional, bold, definitive, noticeable, and makes a statement. There’s no BIGGER way to make a statement than with this 41mm Day Date II with diamond hour markers! One(millimeter)-Up all your friends and acquaintances with their modern 40mm Day Dates and show them who’s really the president!

This is an excellent specimen in very good condition with virtually no bracelet stretch! Those familiar with Day Dates and president bracelets know this tells the tale of how much the watch was worn. The watch saw much more box-time than wrist-time (which is how it ended up with me in the first place). There is a GORGEOUS patina to the entire watch and bracelet. Everyone that sees it comments that it has an almost-rose-gold look to it. That’s the unique part that I’m going to miss the most. It’s been a huge conversation starter. Hoping this finds a wonderful new owner who appreciates this as much as we do.

Watch comes with 22 links not including the end links, that’s 7 removable screws. The original big presentation box (Day Dates, Daytonas, and other special Rolex’s were sold with this bigger box) which has some imperfections from being 15 years old and having been stored in the closed position for years at a time, is included, as well as the original manual (in German), of course the original warranty card signed in 2009, red chronometer hangtag, warranty card sleeve, and original soft “protection pad” that covers the watch dial when closing the box.

The condition of the watch is best described as carefully used. Gold being a very soft metal, it has the expected swirlies but no dings or fleabites to speak of. There is some patina discolouration on some of the bracelet links which neither I nor the original owner found relevant enough to justify cleaning the gorgeous “rose-gold-ish” patina from the watch, but of course you can easily brighten this back to sparkling shiny yellow gold by using the appropriate cleaners. Small rub mark directly above the crown on the clasp where your nail would touch when opening. Crystal is flawless. Clasp is tight.

Regarding pricing. Thanks to Rolex’s roughly-$5k price increase across the Day Date line this past Christmas, a modern 40mm yellow-gold Day Date with diamond hour markers will currently set you back $62,600.

This specimen complete with everything photographed below is available to you for $51,800 + shipping.

This provides you with a discount of $10,800 compared to buying brand new, while giving you a BIGGER solid gold watch to enjoy (41mm vs modern 40mm).

Plenty of references on-site here. You are welcome to message me with any questions you may have!

Watch is located in Ontario, about a hour and a half north of Toronto. Not looking for trade on this one - funds are going into landscaping the backyard and paying for (a portion of) a swim spa 😁.

I noticed that photo #6 appears to show a scratch on the left side of the case which is not present - it’s part of the reflection.

Very tough to find them any better than this.IMG_0363.jpegIMG_0365.jpegIMG_0369.jpegIMG_6646.jpeg
