Hey folks
Up for consideration is what I consider the last of the best IWC chronographs.
Super wearable at 39mm and with a 14mm thickness, the watch wears and feels like a 40mm timepiece.
It harkens to a period before IWC was associated with the luxury category and draws its aesthetics from a functional simplicity.
The Fish crown is original to the watch and is desirable on a watch of this age as they were often replaced at service and presented on the ever comfortable pyramid linked bracelet, makes this a dream to wear.
The 3,6,9 and white on black print with the polished handset featuring the squared off hour hand are uniquely IWC.
There is an added depth to the dial with the recessed counters and the lack of wobble from the notoriously wobbly Valjoux 7750 based movement is a testament to IWC’s prowess before watch enthusiasts even paid attention to these little gripes.
The watch and bracelet have practically no signs of wear aside from a small embellishment to the case between the 5 and 6 o clock position, only seen if you’re looking for it.
The watch is sized for a 7” wrist with room and has 2 extra links to allow for a wrist size up to approx 7.5”
I’m asking a reasonable $4750 shipped for this excellent example of a neo-vintage Flieger that is sure to become a classic in the years to come.
