Up for your consideration is an original 37mm Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Date 140.8.89 in beautiful condition.

The original owner had for over 20 years and hardly wore it. As he was getting old he started to downsize his collection. The watch was given a service and listed for sale. I purchased this watch a few months ago from the dealer in which he consigned it.

A truly wonderful find (unpolished with only with minimal minor hairline scratches).
Serviced in Nov/Dec of 2016.
Comes with the remainder of a 2 year warranty: Expires: Feb 2019

Sitting on a new Camille Fournet alligator strap (in dark brown) which I purchased 2 months ago.
The strap fits my 6.75” wrist perfectly (would go unto 7” nicely - max 7.25).

The buckle is a replacement double deployment form eBay which I purchased while I was hunting an original single fold deployant (hadn’t found yet at time of listing). So that’s not original to the watch. This is literally the only bad thing I can say about it!

A fantastic watch. Offered at $5500 shipped in Canada with ParcelPro, or F2F in the Vancouver Area.

Cash preferred but may entertain trades (Rolex 16014) or other steel sport/dress watches.

I have many references on the forum; please feel free to contact. Thank you for your time.

Bonus bump fact:
This watch is actually called the "Master Control Grande Taille" when made.

In the early 90's — when this was designed and first made — many dress watches were in the 34mm range; such as the beautiful Patek Philippe Calatrava 3919G at 34mm, which Norm just sold here. This watch being 37mm was oversized back then, earning it's Grande Taille name. Since then JLC has changed the name to the "Master Control Date" on newer releases. But this one still stands as the original, and at 37mm makes for a wonderful and timeless sized piece.

Bump bonus fact:

The Master Control series was JLC showing the world (in 1992, post quartz crisis) that they're still serious about mechanical watches; and they’re taking it to the next level with:

- 1000 hours of testing
- as an encased watch (not an uncased movement - such as COSC)
- in 6 positions
- at 3 different temperatures
- while subjected to magnetic fields
- and various shocks.

The Grande Taille (Date) version here was that watch.
