Here’s the next best thing you can get after the newly announced 60th anniversary edition of the CK2915. Here’s a reissue from 1957.

Condition

The watch has been used as a tool watch, if you are scared of scratches, this isn’t for you. The watch case has scratches and swirls. The dial and hands are excellent. The lume still glows. The crystal is in good shape with some nicks here and there, see pics. The watch keeps good time (+5 to +10 s/day), all functions work as they should. The watch comes on bracelet, fits a 7” wrist. Service history unknown. The only thing to note is the clasp snaps loosely. The clasp linkages are slightly bent, should be an easy fix at your watchmaker. There’s a tiny circle mark under the top pusher.

Heritage

The Speedmaster Professional or "Moonwatch" was worn during the first American spacewalk as part of NASA's Gemini 4 mission. It was the first watch worn by an astronaut walking on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission. The Speedmaster became qualified by NASA after a lengthy screening process.

The Speedmaster Professional remains one of several watches qualified by NASA for spaceflight and is still the only one so qualified for EVA (extravehicular activity). EVA: any activity done by an astronaut or cosmonaut outside a spacecraft.
