Condition
This is a 62MAS with small crown. The dial and hands are in beautiful condition. The dial and hands have NOT been relumed. The crystal is a new old stock from Seiko sourced from Japan. The case shows some scratches and some nicks. The caseback markings are worn, typical of the 62mas. The bezel rotates nicely both ways as it should. The bezel insert shows some scuffs and is worn on right side. The watch comes on a new old stock Tropic strap.
The watch has undergone a complete strip and service. It keeps time to +/- 1s/day. Honestly, these watches area beautifully made with no plastic in the movement, unlike the later 6309/6306 and thereafter. The wheel bridge has been replaced with one from a 6215 movement.

Heritage
The 6217-8000/1, or 62MAS (autoMAtic Selfdater) was the first professional diver from Seiko in 1965. It started the diver series for Seiko that continues till today. It was the first diver in Seiko’s lineup to feature an external rotating bezel, and a water resistance of 150 meters. It has recently been re-issued by Seiko with a limited run of 2000 units (Ref.SLA017).
