Selling my SBGA259 Golden Snowflake as I have picked up more pieces on impulse and something’s got to go!
Originally a Japanese only and boutique piece, these have only occasionally been popping up at AD’s over the last year and therefore production levels relative to its sister, the quintessential SBGA211 Snowflake, are quite low. This is a rare opportunity to own a truly unique piece that’s seldom seen in the wild, and at well below retail. If you’ve always wanted a snowflake but wanted something different with a bit of opulence, this is the piece for you!
Purchased November 2019, so almost three full years of warranty remaining. Worn a handful of times, this piece is in mint in condition and comes with the full kit. Although the case measures 41mm, the way it sits on the wrist makes wearing it much more manageable than other 41mm. To me, this wears similar to an Rolex OP39’s and would be quite satisfying for almost all wrist sizes. I have very small wrists that are built for 36mm pieces however I found wearing this piece quite satisfying despite its spec size.
If you don’t know much about spring drive, it’s basically a mechanical watch with quartz like accuracy of about 15 seconds +/- a due to its use of a tri-synchro regulator instead of a traditional escapement. Here’s a link that explains how this works: https://youtu.be/HoEorK6elZM. This level of accuracy would put it well ahead of any chronometer certified piece. As a result of this revolutionary movement, the seconds hands glides across the dial in one continuous motion which needs to be seen to believe. The dial speaks for itself and is becoming more and more iconic as time passes.
