Up for sale (perhaps for a limited time) is an authentic WW2 Omega 6B/159 British Air Ministry issued RAF pilot's watch. This is the real deal folks, not a reissue or homage replica, this watch saw battle, quite possibly aboard a Spitfire. Not enough can be said about the beauty and rarity of this piece. Original dial, beautiful blued steel hands and Duralumin case with stainless steel back. Duralumin was an alloy composed of aluminum. copper, magnesium, and manganese. It has a low polish and almost matte finish to prevent glare and distraction to pilots. The back of the case bears the famous aircraft navigational equipment designation of 6B/159 and the A.M. (Air Ministry) marking which was synonymous with the earliest equipment issues and associated with the earliest stages of the war. Anything after 1943 began to have the upward broad arrow markings. The watch does have a newer crystal and was serviced a few years ago by CWCs very own Shane Ede, according to the gentleman I acquired this watch from. There are service markings on the inside of the caseback, so it is my belief this movement saw service intervals and was not neglected. 33mm case on 18mm fixed bar lugs. Comes with 5 aftermarket Natos (olive drab, tan, grey, black and navy blue.)

I may get cold feet and withdraw as I'm not sure I could ever replace it if sold, but for now it is available. Comparables, and much later post war issued pieces are listed online from $3k US and up from what I've seen. The issue number on this piece is only 3 digits (A 360) so this is a very early model. A true piece of military aviation and WW2 history.

Asking a super reasonable $2700.

Cheers,

Nuno

Hi folks,

Wanted to bring some clarity to the listing as I've had some inquiries as to the authenticity of some of the claims.
The watch was obtained from a person who had previously acquired it from the son of its original owner. I should mention this person is known to the CWC community although he has not been active on it for a while as per his own words. He does know Shane Ede so my mind was at ease knowing he performed the last known service on this piece. As I did not get this piece for cheap, I obviously asked a lot of questions myself as I was not after neither a civilian version of this watch (lacking the necessary military markings) nor a replica or "frankenwatch" if you may, meaning a watch composed of spare parts to be made to look original. In our conversation I was told the movement dates to 1943 which makes sense as my research shows broad arrow markings were used over the A.M. after the 1943 era. I was also informed this watch in fact saw combat, and it logically would be difficult to imagine that a military issued watch for RAF pilots in 1943 just sat idle through those times. Operation Doomsday was mentioned as one of the active operations in which this watch saw action. As to whether it saw action in a Spitfire, I did not make a direct claim that it did, but mentioned it was possible since Spitfires were the RAFs most prominent fighter aircraft and this is after all a pilot's watch.

I am by no means just making things up to make the piece sound more interesting, but I am relaying facts as they were communicated to myself by the previous owner's testimony that the original owner,s son had passed along. Please feel free to ask any questions and i will make every effort to get any answers I may be able to get. Good money was paid for this piece as I have a high respect for history and made this purchase with full confidence as to what I was getting was nothing short of a correct timepiece in terms of its designation and purpose.

With vintage I totally understand the concerns, but I have no reasons to not stand behind what I am claiming this watch to be, nor have any reasons to believe the facts that were relayed to me were not honest and true.

For anyone who had inquired regarding active service history, just confirmed that the watch also saw action in Operation Market Garden in WW2.

Cheers everyone and thanks to all who had inquired on this amazing piece.
