Note: Watch purchased at Royal De Versailles in 2001. Warranty card stamped by AD but owner name is blank. Your name on card!
If you look at the complete set, you may be reminded of a Vendome era Panerai.
As a historic piece, the best way to describe this example is transitional. Produced in 2000 (prior to OP relocating production to Neuchâtel), this is only the third year Panerai produced watches in any significant quantity. The packaging for the 2001 release has many pre-v elements not found in pieces produced 2002 onward.
As a collector, there are some things in this set that I have never seen in person.
1. Transitional Box (most boxes featuring Firenze 1860 on the plaque are replica boxes)
2. Both the rubber and croc leather strap have a C, denoting they are original to this C-series 2001 model! The quality of both is FAR superior to currently produced straps.
3. OPII movement - ETA 6497-2 (21,600 vph) - the decoration details on this movement are identical to the pam127 Fiddy movement and surely was the inspiration.
Finding pictures of an original OPII movement was difficult, thankfully the booklet has a HD photo.
I was originally going to just sell this piece, as I promised I was cutting down my collection. But I've had it 24 hours and my wrist is seeing a lot of titanium. This may very well may edge another piece out for sale instead.
Offering at $7,900
Trades welcome. Rolex, Panerai (249) and Omega (DSOTM or Speedy Pro)
If you are looking for a similar piece for $5,000-$6,000 the PAM177 is perfect for you.
The 00061 was produced for sale in 2001 and ended in 2002. The watch has been in a safe for almost 15 years as evidence by the original bands being almost pristine.
The watch is going for service this week to have the lubricants changed as it has been resting for so long.
Case is unpolished.
Includes:
-00061 titanium case with early dark chocolate sandwich dial (mmmmmmm)
-original titanium thumbnail buckle
-black (or ultra dark brown croc c-series band and c-series rubber strap)
-Stamped warranty card by RDV with name left blank
-chrono cert dated Feb 23, 2000 (year produced, released in 2001)
-Original pre-v style box
-All papers, certs and rare booklets
Hope a couple collectors are as excited as I am to see an early Panerai in this kind of condition and completeness.
Happy collecting!

To be clear. All photos are of the watch for sale. That includes all movement photos. I occasionally screen grab my own photos to order them for a listing, hence occasional black bars. Original example of movement with time stamp shown below.
