For Sale is my Stainless Steel 1971 Rolex Datejust 1603.
This is the same watch that I previously listed here. It was marked "Sold" but after getting to know the buyer, he and I mutually agreed that he'd be better served with a different style of watch. I found him the exact right watch on this Forum, happily took the 1603 back on trade, and planned to keep it as the only dress watch in my personal collection. I have since spotted something else shiny and decided to list it.
The watch has not been worn since I took the photos, and remains in the same cosmetic and mechanical condition as it was previously.
This 50-year old piece is in beautiful condition and has just received a major overhaul by my watchmaker. Genuine Rolex parts were installed and it's ready for another decade of reliable service!
The watch serial number is 2729xxxx. The Jubilee bracelet is installed with 55 End links, 6251H Clasp code and "4 71" date stamp (all correct for 1971 by my research but YMMV).
The 36mm case and bracelet are the real gems here! You'll rarely see a 50-year old Rolex with a case this strong. It's obviously seen a light polish or two over the years but every angle remains sharp. There are no deep dings or scratches of note except for one mark in the engine-turned bezel at 6 o'clock. The acrylic crystal was just replaced and has no marks.
The jubilee bracelet does have moderate stretch but remains solid and earns its reputation as one of the most comfortable-wearing bracelets that Rolex ever made.
The dial and hands do show some patina and some tritium plots are missing but hey, it's 50 years old! On the wrist, it still looks like a million bucks!
Thanks to my watchmaker, it runs well and keeps great time. This movement does not have a quick-set date.
Watch only. No box or papers (travel pouch is a photo prop only and not available).
I've priced this watch at $4450 including shipping with Flagship. I'm looking at something else so a cash deal is highly preferred. That said, If you want to try me, I'll always keep an open mind to trades offered at fair values.
