For your consideration, the Rolex Datejust 16220 with black index dial and engine turned bezel. Not getting any wrist time in the rotation so I’m putting it up for sale for someone else to enjoy.
The serial number is W29XXXX which places the manufacture year at 1995. Overall condition is very good, considering the watch is 24 years old. There are some light swirl marks on the polished areas of the case and some scratches on the underside of the watch. There is also a few very small chips at the edge of the sapphire crystal (see pictures). I was assured by Rolex that this does not affect the integrity of the watch.
Comes with 12 links (not counting the end links) in the oyster bracelet which should fit up to a 6.9” or 17.5cm wrist. I am not the original owner but I did take the watch in for service to an authorized Rolex dealer here in Vancouver last year July. A full factory service was performed and the spring bars, crown tube and gaskets were replaced. They also replaced the bezel and hands, so there is absolutely no wear on the engine turned bezel. Better yet there is still over a year factory warranty on this watch and is probably good for about 10 years before another service is required, so no worries about watch performance and authenticity. The service cost me $1300. I will provide the service papers and the receipt. I asked them to only polish the bracelet and not the case, as that was polished by the previous owner. No box or original papers, but will include the green Rolex service pouch.
My price is $4200, which is less than any 16220 on Chrono24, even more so when you factor in the $1300 service cost I put in last year. This is a perfect Rolex starter watch or for those who appreciate five-digit Datejusts.
I have purchased and sold here on CWC. I prefer a local transaction (Vancouver) but will ship at buyer’s cost. Thanks for looking.
