SOLD: Tritium Dial N-Series Rolex Submariner Date 16610

It is pointless to write about the merits of this piece as a model given it is almost universally accepted as the greatest sports watch of all time. What is important are the details:

Full service at Rolex Canada in October 2013 at a cost of $1125. So few Rolexes have service history available and most stating service meaning they threw down $200 to their local jeweler. A full Rolex Canada service 2.5 years ago means the new owner can rest easy knowing the watch will not have to be looked at again for probably the next 5-10 years. It also means you are getting a 100% authentic timepiece, with no corners cut with subpar aftermarket movement parts.

Series: N (year: 1991)

Dial: Tritium (SWISS - T< 25) as seen at 6 o'clock in the photos. What does this mean for you. Two things. First, Tritium luminescence lasts around 15 years. The only lume you can see is the pearl in the dark at this point. BUT, this proves the dial has not been relumed! (and if you plan on reluming it, no watch for you!). Despite the dial being ultra clean, much like a fine wine, this watch is getting ready to come into its own and will start to develop a beautiful patina on the hour markers and dial over the coming years unlike a more modern 16610. Given the perfect age, you will have the rare opportunity to witness the watch evolve over the next decade.....I may be starting to talk myself into keeping this.....

Authenticity: I had the back opened and movement authenticated at Watchfinder in addition to the serial number on the case matching the Rolex service records and certificate. The watch is 100% authentic, and am happy to have the watch authenticated further by any means they choose at their own expense (Voodoo authentications involving a live chicken may be allowed but are frowned upon as only proved to be 87% accurate).

Condition: Sapphire was replaced in 2013 and is 10/10 condition. Dial is all original and 10/10. Case polish history is unknown, but lines are all sharp, and case is 9.5/10. I am deducting 0.5 as there is a very small nick at the 9 o'clock side of the case at the base of the watch. Please see pictures for details, but it was very hard to show without the light hitting the watch in just the right way and is not visible at all while wearing the watch. Movement condition is 10/10. I inspected it myself while being authenticated at Watchfinder and movement is clean and original. Bezel is 10/10. Bracelet is superb, with very little, if any stretch as shown. There are desk diving scuffs on the clasp as is to be expected with a 25 year old watch. These could easily be polished out, but that is at the buyers discretion once purchased.

Includes:
Original complete box
All original manuals
Rolex Service Card stating serial (matches case serial as I checked), model and date of last service
Fully itemized 2013 service papers as shown in photos totaling $1125
The right to inherit the nickname T-bone (on account of your badass new Tritium Rolex)

Terms: I enjoy the watch, but there is an all original, busted up 1966 Pepsi gilt dial GMT that I'm making room in the collection for.

I'm in no hurry to sell or trade. If it happens in a week, that's good. 6 months, also fine. I'm looking for fair market value in cash as well as open to specific trades:

-Rolex Submariner (60's-80's with significant wear & aging)
-Rolex GMT Master I or II (1675 model preferred, with significant signs of aging), though any Pepsi GMT will be considered in any condition. If you have a busted up 60's gilt dial Pepsi, we are 100% in business.
-Milgauss (not a huge fan, but i would consider it)
-Various Panerai models (I collect Panerai, so nothing generic like a 111....but a 362 as an example is a very different story)
-JLC stainless geographic with sapphire back
-Navitimer + cash (no other Breitling)
-cash + trade also an option

You are welcome to propose a trade not on this list. I like talking watches, so doesn't hurt to give it your best shot.

Cash value considering the condition and service history is set at $7000 (Yes, I considered a Tritium tax/premium, but we all get taxed enough already)
Trade value is set at $7000 for Rolex models, $7700 for non-Rolex.

To the inevitable person who will offer me $5000....CASH...TODAY!!! Oh wait, that's kijiji. Yea, this guy is staying right on CWC. If these photos are posted elsewhere, it's not my watch.

Additional pictures upon request. Happy to provide movement or case number photos, but will need to visit a dealer to open the watch again.

Any questions, just ask! I have both bought and sold on CWC in the past. References available.

Here is a photo of my 16610 next to a mid-level replica 14060. Not trying to prove mine is real, just wanted to share the majesty that is the 14060 with Oyster Perpetual Date written under Rolex.

If you don't find that funny, you also can't buy the watch.

Also, if you happen to have a defective Rolex with Submariner written in red (very undesirable) I'm happy to exchange it with this non-defective model. Perhaps even cash to compensate you for pain and suffering from having to own it over the years.

Weekend bump. Price increased to $6500 as I consulted a psychic, and she said that's what I should be asking for the piece.

Did I mention it was all original and fully serviced by Rolex Canada? Yes, think I did.

To appease the masses, the price has been reduced to $6299.99 Cash. Sweet...sweet cash. And despite no longer being in circulation, I'm serious about receiving those last 4 pennies.

I'm in a tough spot. The entertainment value in selling this watch alone is priceless. But nothing is free in this world. This weekend only $5999.99 (want my pennies). This discount is my way of paying back all those buyers who have entertained me so well these past few weeks : ). Price back to $6300 starting Monday because...#highpressuresalestactics

I was asked about the size of my submariner. As the buyer believes they vary year to year.

I included a comparison photo. It does seem slightly smaller.

Still $6000 this weekend only. And not because it's abnormally small for a submariner. Promise.

Price back to $6.3k. Some intriguing trade offers and possible takers at $6k, but deal isn't done till money changes hands. $6k stands for those that inquired over the weekend.

It was a long road. A long, and very entertaining road. Now that it is sold, I am changing gears and made note of all people (all on kijiji) that offered below $4000 so that I can inquire periodically to buy from them. This is a huge untapped resource. I am currently having a trophy case constructed for all the 100% authentic and original $3000 submariners I am about to own. This may however reduce the number of watches in the market causing prices to rise. I regret nothing.
