So, I am putting this out as a feeler and will decide what to do depending on what, if any, offers I receive. I have decided to fundamentally change up the watch-box; looking outward five years, I realize that there are some watches that I will want to wear and there are some that I probably will find, for whatever reason, not to my liking.
With the above in mind, here is what I have / would consider packaging individually or collectively for a trade / trades.
1). Omega Sea Master Professional 300 metre diver (reference #2599.80) with an Omega 1164 COSC movement and HE valve. Bought at a local Ottawa AD about four months ago, so still has the substantial balance of the international warranty remaining on it. Comes with inner / outer box, all papers / documents, pictocards, extra links. Condition is easily 95% (some minor desk-diver scuffs on the clasp) and the red dot is, of course, still intact. The technical and dimension details are readily available on-line.
Trade value approximately $2,700 - $2,800.00 (can shift up or down, depending on the offer).
2). Bell & Ross BR03-94-S-01149. This is the black carbon (PVD) chronograph. Comes with inner / outer box, all papers / documents, the OEM rubber strap as well as two after-market black leather straps (one all-black, one with red stitching, both with buckles, one brushed SS, one PVD). Condition is easily 95% plus. Keeping time well within COSC standards. The technical and dimension details are readily available on-line.
Trade value approximately $2,800 - $2,900.00 (can shift up or down, depending on the offer).
3). Archer Aero II. Look up Al Jenskey’s work on his website to read more on this watch. It is an incredible timepiece in all respects. Here are some details from the Archer website:
-German made 316 Stainless steel
- 42 mm diameter not including crown
- bead blasted finish
- 45 degree profiled bezel
- Approx. 12 mm thick
- Sapphire glass main crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside and outside to reduce glare and reflections
- Sapphire glass exhibition back so the movement can be observed
- Large pilot crown for easy winding and setting
- 22 mm Jurgen's pilot strap (brown or black available)
- Strap attaches to case with spring bars
- Water resistance rated to 50 meters - all watches are tested to –0.2 Bar and +6 Bar
Movement:
- Swiss made ETA 6497/6498 movements
- Hour and minutes on primary dial
- Sub-seconds dial at 9 or 6 o’clock
- 18,000 beats per hour
- 48 hour power reserve
- Manual winding
- 17 jewels
- Incabloc shock protection
- Côtes de Genève decoration on plates
- Perlage decoration on pallet bridge
- Rhodium plating
- Blued screws
- Snailing decoration on crown and ratchet wheels
Dial/Hands:
- Super-LumiNova C1 dial
- Super-LumiNova C1 hands
Please note that I have had mine slightly modified, replacing the onion crown with a standard crown. The condition is 92% plus, less the strap, which while having lots of life left in it, is probably at 85%. It comes with the hand-made wooden watch box as well as the manufacturing DVD that Al does with all of his hand-made watches.
Trade value approximately $500 - $600 (can shift up or down, depending on the offer).
A few final points:
-I live in Ottawa and so would prefer to keep the deal face-to-face, which means I can go as far afield as Montreal or Toronto (which I travel to on a fairly frequent basis, although if it is an off couple of weeks, meeting at some point in between may be necessary). This is not to say that I would not do a mail-trade, as long as I know you and / or you have impeccable and independently verifiable references, preferably with well-known people here at CWC. I have over 250 online watch-related transactions with impeccable Canadian and international references, and will provide them on an as-required basis.
-I probably do not have any cash to add, although I can combine multiple watches from the list, above, for the right up-stream watch.
-I would consider lower value / multiple watch trade offers with or without cash on your part, although no digitals (unless it is a Froggy … LOL). There are no sacred cows here (I like pretty much any and all watches, quite frankly), apart from not insulting my intelligence with ridiculous offers (hence my keeping this off of places like WUS et dans la famille).
-I would also consider up-stream / higher end watches (i.e. I would consider packaging multiple watches from the list above to get the “right” watch …. maybe a little cash on my part, if absolutely necessary … LOL. The Frau is being parsimonious these days with my watch allowance).
-I can provide more pictures, if and as necessary. I am not a great photographer, but can get across the general idea, depending on what you are looking for in terms of detail).
The best way to reach me is via my work email address: james.debruin@forces.gc.ca . This is my work email address and I carry my work BB pretty much 24/7.
I am in no particular rush nor have a pressing need, to make a trade and so can and will wait for the right deal ... if any.
Thanks very much and if you do have any offers, up or down, please fire away.
Best regards,
James
