Testing the waters on high-end vintage, I'm offering my 1922 platinum Vacheron & Constantin dress pocket watch with case by Verger Freres!
The history of Verger Freres actually began in 1872 when Ferdinand Verger founded his Paris jewellers and watchmaking studio. Pieces from the atelier were punch marked FV. In 1911 his two sons Georges and Henri inherited the business and the name became Verger Freres, punch marked VF. They produced many fine watches and clocks for Vacheron & Constantin, Cartier, Boucheron and other high-end brands. Sadly, the partnership ceased in 1938 when V&C merged with Jaeger LeCoultre. Today they are considered among the most stylish and elegant timepieces from the Art Deco period.
This platinum watch measures 40mm across, not including the crown and bail. The dial is silver with applied enamel Cubiste numerals, the hands are rich blued Breguet style. On the back are discrete inset enamel initials "IMS".
The movement is V&C's own 16 ligne, 18 jewel, adjusted to 8 positions. It was serviced in 2011 and runs well with occasional use on special occasions.
Priced at CDN $5,200 including FedEx shipping within Canada.
Serious and reasonable offers will be considered, but please do your research to appreciate how special this timepiece is. As always, I am pleased to answer questions, provide references, and direct interested parties to further reading materials.
Cheers,
