Offering this rare Cosmic 2000 ref 166.160
Fully serviced and reconditioned with NOS bracelet, bezel. New crystal, hands, date wheel.
Great story on this one. Watch maker Jeff Thompson at Bob Thompson's Jewellers in Otawa took possession of this watch in 2005, sent it to Swatch Group for a full service. Got it back. Original owner sold it to him and the watch then sat in his safe untouched for 17 years!
When Jeff showed it to me last year, I read about this piece and similar ones and decided to buy it. As part of the sale Jeff did another full service. I also ordered a NOS bezel which set me back another $400!
In 2005 the NOS bracelet cost just $80! These are now probably well north of $500.
Hodinkee had this same pice for sale with a different bracelet over a year ago (various bracelet options were available back then, it seems). The ref number is different but it is the same head and movement. Theirs was unrestored and no service history. It sold for USD$2000.
If you search online there isn't much to be found. On Chrono24 there is only one for sale with a white dial for Cdn$ 4700. Also unrestored. I also found a YouTube video where a collector mentions he paid 3500 euros.
So, perhaps this 1978 vintage piece will fit just right in somone's collection. A birthday year perhaps?...
I have not worn this beautiful piece much. I just don't want to put any wear on it. The case was lightly refinished. Jeff at Thompson's Jewellers was careful to respect the original finish pattern and he did a great job. It is a stand out piece in my opinion.
I am really usure of the right price point. But it seems reasonable to ask $3500. So, that is my asking.
Showing recent pictures and paperwork. More pictures can/will be added later showing different angles and in different light condition.
Thank you,
