According to the wife, all Speedmasters look the same, and as such, I don’t need to have so many in my collection. This is the second of three I intend to sell to keep her happy. My loss could be your gain!
Movement #3058XXXX suggests July 1970 production. Calibre 861; manual wind. Comprehensive service by our very own Archer in 2022, watch keeps excellent time and functions properly.
Overall condition is good.
The case is good minus. Though the lines are fairly sharp, it has been sympathetically polished. There are a few small dings and flea bites present also.
The case back is good. Correct etched Hippocampus logo and 145022-69ST marking.
The dial is good minus. Correct C1 stepped variant with “open S” stamped logo and short indices. There is lume loss on the 7, 8, 9, and 10 indices. Though I wouldn’t consider it tropical, a brown undertone is present in direct light.
The hands are fair. Though they appear to be original, the tritium has become discoloured and is no longer luminous.
The bezel is fair. Though a correct genuine vintage DON (Dot Over Ninety) bezel, it is not original to the watch. Great patina and very much in keeping with the look of the watch. Fun fact: a short time after this watch was produced, Omega discontinued the DON bezel and began fitting Speedmasters with the DNN (Dot Next to Ninety) “error 220” bezel.
The crystal is a signed Omega replacement.
The pushers and crown are Omega service replacements.
Offered on the vintage 1171/633 bracelet pictured, though other strap and bracelet options can be discussed.
