I went down the Vintage Seiko rabbit hole and have waaaaaaaay too many cool pieces here now.
So, I present the April 1974 Seiko 6138-0040 Bullhead
Its cool.
Its retro.
It works!
And its all original including the bracelet that fits an 8" wrist!
(Currently sized for 7.5" wrist with a spare link included)
I did all the legwork getting it into Canada.
There are lots of these available in the various versions that were offered.
Lots of em filled with aftermarket parts and mismatched allofthethings.
It took me a while to source one that wasn't shiite. Sent all the pics to Ashton and asked what is involved with replacing a crystal (its sapphire not plexi) and he said to wear it until it needed a service and do the crystal swap at that time.
So here we are.
43mm watch head
All chrono features work.
Date wheel is English and Spanish and snaps over crisply.
I've been told that these movements are better off with chrono running, so that advice is passed along to a potential new owner.
Someone looking for cheap vintage, this is for you!
I have about $1080 into it.
So because I like stupid numbers let's shoot for $888 shipped with my flagship account to a Canadian address.
On to the pics!
All photos raw unedited shots.
