Sold Serica 5303-3 Blue

Feel free to tell me you told me so a year from now when I’m kicking myself for selling this one, but in the interest of reducing the percentage of dive watches in my collection from near 100% to something less than that, a few have to go.

The ceramic bezel is the star of show here and is chameleon-like in its appearance. I’ve tried to capture it as best as I can, but I’d encourage you to visit the Serica website for an even better series of images.

The dial is a deep, dark blue.

The bezel has the most pleasing action I’ve ever experienced on a dive watch - and I’ve owned a few of them.

This is a phenomenal timepiece that punches way above its weight class, and I’ve enjoyed every minute with it.

Currently, this watch sold out and on back order, and not shipping until well into the summer, so here is a good chance to skip the line and buy one in outstanding worn condition.

This one has not exhibited any of the problems that some of the Soprod movements have had (some have had crown issues out of the box) and runs well within chronometer specs.

I’m selling it for $1800, which is a little less than I paid when duties, taxes and exchange are all factored into the equation. Full set, of course.

Insured shipping via flagship is available, at the buyer’s expense. Face-to-face meetups, as always, are more than welcome in the Guelph, K/W and GTA areas.

Please feel free to connect with any questions or for additional pics or videos.

Further reducing to $1650 and we can split the cost of shipping.

Re: the Soprod movement, I’ve noticed that the sweep hand sometimes takes an extra second or so to stop when the crown is pulled out.

It’s not something I noticed before, but since listing, I decided to ask around with other Serica owners to see what things they have experienced.

Hmmm… after a buyer reached out to ask about the crown issues, I’ve done some testing… trying to set and hack the movement multiple times, over and over again.

What I’m seeing is that occasionally the crown needs an extra bit of force to hack. Happens maybe 1 out of ever four or five times, I’d say?

A couple of times (out of maybe 20 or so) that I had to make that extra pull, the minute hand did move… a couple minutes forward. It seems to happen rarely, but it does happen.

I’ve worn this one in rotation of a dozen or so watches since receiving it and hadn’t yet noticed any of these quirks, but I’m sort of a grab, set and go watch-wearer.

To me, it’s completely livable and not a big deal… especially given how accurate the movement has been when wearing it… but I can see how it would really bother some.

I’ll leave the listing up, but am happy to provide any prospective buyers with a video demo upon request.

Spent three weeks navigating holidays and schedule conflicts with a buyer who now seems to be flaking out.

Bumping this back up to the top at $1375

After reaching out to Serica, it seems they are willing to take the watch back for a crown repair under warranty, so I’m taking down this listing for the time being.

I’ll keep everyone updated as to how the process goes… should be interesting to see what the experience is like.
